SEACPA Launches Prevention for Protection Initiative™ Ahead of the Holiday Season

National and global prevention effort equips professionals, caregivers and communities with practical strategies to help protect children before harm occurs

October 2026 — The Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Child Protection Agency, LLC (SEACPA) has launched its Prevention for Protection Initiative™, a prevention-focused effort designed to equip professionals, caregivers and communities with practical child-protection education and resources during the holiday season and beyond.

As families prepare for gatherings, travel, overnight visits, changing routines and increased online activity, SEACPA is emphasizing a central message: child protection should begin before something happens.

“Too often, conversations about child sexual abuse begin after a child has been harmed or when warning signs are already present,” said Jessica T. White, M.S., CEO of SEACPA. “Prevention for Protection is about moving that conversation upstream—equipping adults with practical tools to communicate early, strengthen boundaries, and establish protective practices before a child ever needs to make a disclosure.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 90% of child sexual abuse is perpetrated by someone known and trusted by the child or the child’s family. The initiative encourages families to move beyond traditional “stranger danger” messaging by focusing on three practical strategies: Talk Before the Gathering, Identify Trusted Adults, and Create a Family Protection Action Plan.

Throughout the initiative, SEACPA will provide resources addressing boundaries, trusted adults, digital safety, holiday gatherings and age-appropriate prevention conversations. Resources include the Holiday Child Protection Checklist, Family Protection Action Plan, educational programming, and White’s children’s book, My Body’s My Own.

Although based in South Florida, SEACPA’s work reflects a broader national and global prevention mission focused on moving child protection from primarily responding after harm toward equipping adults and communities before harm occurs.
